by Vic Lennard     3d Brick Bash! 1.3 Time to revisit the classic game of Break-Out, where you use a paddle to hit a ball against   a wall of bricks, destroying the bricks. However, this game has a 3D playing area. You get bonus points   for finishing levels quickly and from hitting the occasional targets that appear on the back wall. Nice implementation of an oldie.  ∑ Chess 4.0 Lite  This is a limited, freeware version of the commercial release. Several features are limited or disabled in this free version, including a limit of 1000 games per collection and the fact that libraries cannot be saved.  However, it's fast and the computer plays a good game.  Alan's Solitaire 1.0.3  Card games always go down well and this one is no exception. Played with the cards arranged in a pyramid, the object is to remove all of the cards from the pyramid by placing uncovered cards on top of the turned-over card (or  "play" card) at the top of the board. Cards are only playable if they are one up or one down, in sequence, from the play card. Sounds easy - but in 50 attempts, I only succeeded once…  Asshole 1.0.6  Asshole may sound rude but it isn't. It's an excellent card game for the Macintosh where you goal is to be the first one to get rid of all of your cards. The last one to go out will become the Asshole; the penultimate one, the Vice  Asshole. Similarly, first out is President (getting Asshole's two best cards on the next deal) and second out is Vice President (who gets the Vice Asshole's best card next deal). The real game of Asshole has many variations in game play, and so does this one! The sampled voices are a nice touch.  Dominoes 1.0  Everyone knows how to play Dominoes. There are many variations, from the simple "play until you're out" up to the game of "42", which involves bidding, and lots of other weird silliness. This version derives from a game  called "Muggins". The idea is to score as many points as possible by making smart plays, which take some learning, and/or running out of tiles before your opponent. Very addictive - and the computer opponent is good!  idin 1.0.3  This is a nice 'n' simple game: find a friend, show him the keyboard controls for his helicopter, and blast him out of the skies! You can use five different weapons - and hit the eject button if your friend is better than you expected.  King of Parking 1.1  If you like Sokoban, you'll love this. A highly inebriated parking attendant has placed a load of cars in a car park in a manner that makes it impossible to get the red car out. You have to get this car out of the parking lot by  manoeuvreing the blue cars backwards and forwards. The non-registered version only gives you a few levels to try, but it's fun.  Rain Net 1.1  Definitely a weird one, this. Valentine is a gourmand frog who likes strawberries, but has a problem: when she walks, she can't stop so you have to help her by putting obstacles in her path. Her friend Cornelius cannot eat  strawberries but can stop Valentine. When Valentine has eaten all the strawberries you can go to the next level. As I said, weird…  Sim Cinema DX 2.1  Sim Cinema Deluxe is a simulation of the film making process. In the game, you play a producer who owns a small production company. Your company must make many films to gain notoriety and respect from Hollywood and  distributors. When making films, the game takes you through all levels of development, from cast and crew selection, to advertising, to determining the best time of the year to release your film. After release, not only will you have to worry about advertising, but also what film critics will say  about your film. All of these things and more decide the box office performance of your film, which you'll follow as the weeks go by. Sim Cinema Deluxe also features an in-game cast and crew editor.  Starfight  This is an arcade-style side-scrolling shooting game. Control your spaceship and defeat the appearing enemies. Your spaceship increases its power by capturing certain power-up items, including a "front arm" which positions  itself in front of your spaceship and protects you from enemy fire. There are a total of five stages and at the end of each of them - as with all good shoot- 'em-ups - the "Boss" appears. Also available is a set of 16-bit stereo  sounds.  SuperBike 1.2  Remember the laser bike scene in the Tron movie? Then you'll know all about SuperBike. Two players go head-to-head on computerized SuperBikes that move quickly and turn at 90° angles. Wherever they go, they leave a  wall in their path. To win the game, a player must force the other player into a wall before they suffer the same fate. Play against the computer or a friend.  Super Othello 2.3.2  Super Othello is an implementation of the classic board game Othello, which is also known as Reversi. You play either red or green on an 8x8 grid and the object of the game is to gain as many of your opponent's pieces before the  game ends. Yellow Lemon Software's version features Player vs Player, Player vs Mac and Mac vs Mac modes with eight different levels of difficulty. You can show available moves and log and save games, in addition to flipping  the board and inverting it. Super Othello also allows you to watch a tutorial explaining the rules for flipping.  The Fishin' Hole v1.0  As far as I can remember, this is the first shareware fish-'em-up. Sierra has the commercial Trophy Bass game and now we have The Fishin' Hole. Definitely one for the fair weather fishermen among us, this sim allows you  to buy bait, cast out and reel in the lunch! It's a real family affair: Karl Becker, the programmer, taunts you and cheers you on while you're actually fishing, his dad speaks to you in the General Store and Fish Market and his  mom did the bird calls. For a first version, this is pretty good.
